Summer 2012
Superstrings spent 5 days at Braeside for their Summer Festival of music making. The 50 participants who were from all over the county and beyond, were aged between 6 and 18 and spent the days playing in one of two orchestras and as a member of a chamber group. Under the guidance of local artist Sandra Bull the younger students created art work and did creative movement with Charlotte White (a Dalcroze specialist).
The older students, who were resident at Braeside for the week, enjoyed the great facilities there including the high ropes, table football and a bonfire. Evenings were spent playing advanced chamber music with the team of highly sought after string teachers, some of whom are local and some from London. They also created a rock opera under the inspirational guidance of ex Super stringer and violinist, Tobias Tripp who is currently a student at the Royal Welsh College of music. The course culminated in 2 wonderful concerts. The first was performances by the various chamber music groups and the grand finale was held at St Joseph's school. This was a multi media presentation of Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky.
